Sunday Getaway: Hotel Valley Ho

Since it's the end of my first full week back in Arizona, I thought this Sunday Getaway should take us to my own backyard of Scottsdale, Arizona. The Valley Ho is an amazing historic hotel right in the middle of Scottsdale's eats, sights, and fun with a very cool retro vibe. Hotel Valley Ho's decor is mid century modern and very Rat-Pack cool, so all you design-philes out there are sure to love it as much as I do.

{The hotel in the late 1950s}
{The pool in the 1950s}
{The pool today. Still a very chic place to get a tan and people watch with a cocktail in hand}
{Outdoor bar perfect for sipping a martini, a la Don Draper}
{The original lobby}
{The 21st century lobby still feels straight out of the swinging 50s and 60s}
{Another amazing guest room. Would love to have a staycation here}
{Enjoy your stay, my friends - and try not to go too gaga over the mid-century amazingness!}

Fashion Friday: Fall into Cobalt

While blue has always been one of my favorite colors to wear (I'm a blue, black, grey, and white girl), I'm especially loving pops of cobalt blue. I love cobalt as a transitional color from summer to fall since it's bright enough for the end of summer, but also looks great with darker, muted fall tones. Since it is so bright and powerful, just a little pop can add enough OOMPH to your ensemble. Are you also falling in love with cobalt for summer to fall?

{Can't leave the boys out!}

{LOVE those gloves! A very sophisticated look}

{I think flouncy blouses and skinny jeans might be a great fall uniform}
{Well, look, it's some of my fave colors - black, blue, and grey!}
{Such a cute outfit; the shoes add a perfect spunky touch}

I hope you all have a great weekend and are as excited for the upcoming fall season as I am! Be sure to head over to Blonde Episodes and check out the other posts for Fashion Friday!

Friday's Fancies: Red Haute

Happy Friday's Fancies, everyone! This week's theme is all about the rockin' color red. My red ensemble was inspired by the princess of the Upper East Side, Blair Waldorf.

Miss Waldorf's ivory skin and brunette hair looks gorgeous in some red, so I thought this ensemble would be perfect for the girly and sophisticated {fictional} New York royalty.

1. The dress is by Valentino - because, girl, I cannot do a fabulous and luxurious red outfit without featuring the king of red himself. Girly ruffles are perfect for Blair, and I could definitely see her sporting something similar on the show. It's prim and covered up with just enough decolletage showing for some sexiness {for Chuck of course!}.
2. The headband is also Valentino. What Blair outfit would be complete without a headband?? The bow keeps it presh while the studs add some edge - just like Blair's personality.
3. Mary Janes are by Gucci. They continue the sweet meets sassy vibe that reminds me oh so much of Ms. Waldorf.
4. And last, but certainly not least, we have a jaw-dropping necklace by Erickson Beamon. GG fans will know that this is the same brand of necklace that Chuck gave Blair for her birthday in season one. If you couldn't tell, I'm a fan of the couple {I get too invested in TV} and wanted to pay homage to them with these killer jewels.

Be sure to click on the button and head over to Long Distance Loving and "like" the entry for Lust for Living and visit all of the fabulous other outfits! Loving this red theme - va va voom!

Pink and Green Thursday: Missoni for Target

I CANNOT wait for Mission for Target. Here's a sneak peek of the lookbook for the line. What are your favorite pieces? I'll definitely be planning my strategy, so I can get my hands on the blanket, throw pillows, and some mugs. See you all in line on September 13th!

Be sure to head over to Pink Preppy Lilly Lover and check out all the other blogs linking up for Pink and Green Thursday!

Lust List: Dixon Copper Pendants

OBSESSED with Tom Dixon's copper pendant lamps.They look ah-mazing especially in sleek, modern spaces. So sexy. Remind me of something that would belong in Rachel Zoe's home in a room filled with white furniture, shag pillows, and some Missoni throws and pillows. They also look beautiful in kitchens. HAWT.

Photo Walls

Since I currently live in an apartment, I'm unable to paint any walls - so I'm constantly looking for ways to fill empty white walls. All of the white space is so boring, especially in my bedroom, and doesn't look chic at all with my white comforter.

One wall filler that I love is a great photo/art wall. They can fill up a lot of space and definitely make a room more homey - or simply remind you of people you love at home. I'm scheming and planning an art wall of my own, so I will be sure to share the end product if it comes to fruition!

{This wall is super intense, but it surprisingly works well with the space}
{The use of a chalkboard is so creative. I also love the mix of black, white, and light blue}
{These matted frames and the rigid spacing of the frames make this wall really sleek and modern}
{LOVE the fur rug and how only a few frames can make the wall look great}
{This office is simply amazing}
{A lovely idea for any birthday party}
{Photo shelves are a great alternative to hanging them on the wall}

And last, here are some great photo wall configuration ideas for you to get hanging!

Pardon My Dust...

But, I am still moving into the new place, unpacking, preparing for interviews and school, and just getting situated back in Arizona! I will be back soon, lovelies! Can't wait to blog more frequently, catch up on all of the great blogs I follow, and settle into a routine. Now, if only moving was as glamorous as these images, but unfortunately this Arizona heat (imagine living inside an oven) won't allow it.
